Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues

Hello my lovelies!

Well, well, well.. Here I have a swatch post but it’s one that I am super excited to share because this is my first ever Deborah Lippmann polish! I got it in a blog sale type thing because there aren’t really any places that you can buy this brand in New Zealand. Sigh. It’s like I’m a cave person.. Haha!

Anywho, this one is called Lady Sings the Blues which is absolutely gorgeous! It’s a really dark navy blue base with silver, blue and purple/pink glitters. It’s pretty much a galaxy mani in a bottle!

I layered one coat of this beauty (yes just one gotta ration this baby out!) over one coat of black polish. I love how it turned out and will be keeping this one all to myself!

Dream Catcher Nail Art

Hey, hey, hey!

Finally some nail art! I’m very conscious of how many swatch blog posts I put up so I’m always really excited to share nail art! When I first started out blogging I pretty much only posted nail art but after a while I started getting more and more interested in the newer collections and indie polishes too. I know whenever I purchase a polish I look up swatches and read other blogger thoughts on them before I decide so I like posting swatches too.

Anyhow, I tried out another cute polish tutorial but I changed it up a little bit. Well, really what happened was that I mucked up the string part and ended up just winging it instead of taking it off and starting again. I think it worked out fine!

I used the following polishes for this look:

– Color Club Pucci-Licious
– Picture Polish Marine
– OPI Teenage Dream
– LA Girl Nostalgic
– Sinful Colors Snow Me White
– Black striper

And I followed this Cute Polish tutorial. Try it out for yourself and share your recreations!

Stop! Glitter Time.

Woo! First post of the year!

This is actually a back logged post that I’ve been meaning to post for the longest time!

So what I am about to share with you is possibly one of the best polishes I have come across this year. It’s truly beautiful and everything I want in a polish. It’s a one coat dream, glitter bomb to the point that it’s very much a holo and the depth it has is just.. Oh! Excuse me while I drool!

I’m talking about this L.A Girl 3D Holographic polish. The name of this colour is Sparkle Ruby. It’s a darker red to the point where it can look pink/fuchsia though? Well to me anyways. The photo really does not do this polish justice! I’ve found that it is my go to polish when I’m feeling uninspired.

Go out and buy it now!!! It’s so pretty!! I really want the orange colour of this range it just calls to me…. Drooling again.

Happy new year to all of my followers and visitors! I hope that your 2014 surpasses all expectations and is filled with love, fun and glitter!

Face of Australia Carnivale Polish

I know I’ve been really slack with blogging. I can’t make any promises with the regularity of my blogging at this stage.. It’s hard to explain but basically shit hit the fan and I have been feeling down recently and just haven’t had the energy or desire to do my nails.. Yes it sucks but things can only get better, right? Keeping it extremely vague..

Anyhow! As you might know, I recently went to Australia for a holiday and I picked up quite a few polishes. I have two to share with you today by Face of Australia from the Carnivale collection. These were actually the only two left in the shop so I didn’t get to choose from the whole collection but these are really prettyyyyyy. I tried these because I wanted a glitter bomb and boy howdy did it get it! The purple is called Masquerade and the green/teal is called Ferris Wheel. I look at the two colours together and I see a mermaid fart or something like that! Haha!

I put top coat on these because I actually didn’t know that they are textured finish. I think it looks good with it! Sooooo glittery.

Anyhow, have a great Christmas holiday and happy new year. Hopefully I will blog again before this 2013 year is out and hopefully I get a renewed love for polish soon. Thanks to all my followers over this last year!

Glitter Ombré Bridal Nails

It’s been a long time 😦 too long! I’ve been super busy with just life in general that every time I go to write a blog post.. I fall asleep since I usually blog right before I go to sleep.

Over the weekend, a pair of my very close friends got married and I was lucky enough paint the brides nails 😀 I was really chuffed that she asked me to do it since it’s her special day and all that! The fact that she thought of me and that she would trust me with that is pretty awesome!

I practiced the look she wanted on myself before the big day and here is the one she fell in love with:

I used a plain white polish for the base colour and then created a gradient with various purple glitters, at present I don’t have the polishes that I used on hand but I will at some point (they’re in the car..) so I will have a post in the future with the names of the polishes I used and a picture of the manicure on the bride. The accent nail didn’t make the final cut, it was done just to show what the gradient would look like on a purple base.

Enjoy your week to come! And a hearty congrats to the happy couple (and anyone else who got married on the weekend just been) 🙂

Everything is coming up Milhouse!

This polish is the first polish I’ve ever purchased purely for the name. I am a pretty big Simpsons fan and my goldfish is named Milhouse so I had to buy it!!

I got this polish called Everything is Coming up Milhouse by Happy Hands from the Femme Fatale website which specialises in indie brands and is Australian based. I honestly didn’t even look at how much it cost, I just needed it because of the name! I layered two coats of it over one coat of Covergirl Out of The Blue and it looks really great! I just love how nerdy it looks.. Just like Milly!! You can just picture the whimpy voice and big glasses! “My mom says I’m cool” It’s a medium blue jelly base with yellow, orange, red, blue and purple glitters. Bonus: the larger glitters don’t require much fishing and not a lot of sinkage on this one.

“I can’t go to juvie! They use guys like me as currency!” – MILHOUSE VAN HOUTEN, The Simpsons

Love, love, love iiiiiiit!

BTW have you liked my Facebook page yet?

Simple Heart Nails

These must be the easiest and simplest nails anyone could do. A dotting tool makes these really easy but it can be done with a bobby pin or a toothpick or whatever else you have to use in place of a dotting tool!

I started off with two coats of Orly’s Everything’s Rosy and then used OPI My Vampire Is Buff and a dotting tool to create the little hearts in the middle of every nail. I think they look so simple and sweet! I think I wore these for at least a few days before taking it off – usually manicures don’t last more than a day as I get bored or get a new polish that I want to play with.

I hope you all had a great weekend! The weather was actually really lovely (woo no tights needed!) but today it is so windy! Almost got blown away today!

Pink Glitter Sequin Gradient Nails

So this manicure has two polishes that I recently acquired that I haven’t yet used.. Yeah I still have a lot of untried polishes to go through!

I started off with two coats of Picture Polish Beige on all but my ring finger. I wanted a hot pink accent nail and used That’s Hot! Pink by OPI which is one of my favourite pink polishes and one of the ones I used a lot when I first started out blogging. I wanted to try out one of my new Maybelline Color Show polishes from the Sequins collection and used Rose Bling on the tips.

Vintage Rose Manicure

This is one of the manicures that I love to do. I really just think that it looks so great and it’s actually really easy. I still have (what I would consider) nubbins for nails and this design looks pretty good on short nails.

I started off with a base colour Cinderella by Sinful Colors. A lot of the people I know online in polish addict land love this polish.. Me, not so much. At least, not on its own. It’s a little too pale for me but for this manicure it fits the bill.

I decided on pink flowers and decided to outline the petals with a darker pink rather than using the swirling type technique. I don’t really have a preference over which method looks better.

Swatch: Dollish Polish Drop Your Sword

Well I finally decided to post this swatch today! I have been sitting on this blog post for a long time mostly because I feel like I post a lot of swatches and I didn’t do all of my Dollish Polish ones at the same time.

I purchased this a while back with a whole other bunch of Dollish Polish lacquers. This one is called Drop Your Sword and is pretty much a jelly sandwich in a bottle. I decided to swatch it on its own with no undies and I really like how dainty and pretty it looks. The gold peeks through just enough for you to notice it. I used three coats and generous amount of top coat. I did try it over a blue base (Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue) but I bumped my hand against something so no photos of that unfortunately but I do like it better on its own.

You can purchase Dollish Polish here.
