OPI Liquid Sand Vesper Swatch

Well there was another one of those clearance cosmetic sales in Wellington this week.. Yeeeaahhhhh… My wallet is a bit light now. I got some really good staples like OPI Samoan Sand though! All together I picked up 6 full size polishes and a set of four minis from the Kardashian line by Nicole by OPI. By far not as much damage as last time (which was 12 full size polishes..)

Originally I was wanting to get new liquid sand polishes from the Bond Girls collection in Solitaire and Tiffany Case but they sold out. Ah boo! I did however manage to pick up the colour Vesper, in the bottle it looks brown and in swatches online it looks black. After one coat it looks purple and then after two it turns into that almost black colour.

At first I didn’t like it and immediately thought of destashing it but once it fully dried it grew on me. I hardly wear plain manicures but I think this would look good as a base with a gloss French tip? I tried it out with top coat and I think it looks a lot better as sand texture.

Swatch: OPI Eurso Euro

I finally got around to taking off the Suzi’s Hungary Again (even though I just love it so much) and I decided to swatch Eurso Euro from the Euro Centrale collection by OPI.

I’m not normally a big fan of blues or darker colours really so I’m not sure what possessed my boyfriend to buy this polish for me? He must’ve known it would look aaaamaazing??

I really like this colour it’s not too dark and to me it almost looks purple sometimes. It’s a definite two coater but the formula is really great. I hope it doesn’t stain my nails! I used a base coat but I have the worst luck with staining.

Also, it’s day three of using the new top coat that I got and I am really liking it A LOT! So I guess I will have to do a post about it sometime soon..! I think you’ll be surprised because it isn’t a Seche or OPI or orly etc..

OPI Euro Centrale: You’re Such A Budapest

Just a little post and update today. So, this arrived in the mail today! The polish that I’ve been coveting the most from the new Euro Centrale collection, You’re Such A Budapest. It’s such a pretty light purple I just fell in love with it when I first saw it online. I almost didn’t get it because my work mate got the minis and the colour didn’t look at great on her but I’m glad I did because it looks awesome! I’ve always really wanted Planks A Lot from the Pirates Of The Caribbean collection but now that I have this I don’t think I need it.

Any who, on to a quick little update.. I might not be posting as often over the next week or two as I have committed myself to something.. But, I will try as hard as I can to post some nail art soon.

My First OPI Liquid Sand!

Yay! It finally arrived! I purchased a bottle of the liquid sand from the new OPI Mariah Carey collection in Can’t Let Go. For some reason I thought I got the blue one but it’s purple. Brain fart! Hahaha! Oh well.

I used two coats of this baby on my nails. Dry time was actually very quick and the matte finish is actually really pretty. Do you reckon they just used matte polish and shoved some glitter in it? Would it be the same if you used a matte top coat over glitter? I shall buy a matte top coat and see.. Or, in the words of Barney Stinson, challenge accepted!

Advent calendar challenge day 7: ornaments

Early morning blogging.. It is 7am right now.. Gotta love it! I painted my nails twice last night because I knew I had to go out straight after work today and a little forward planning was needed for the challenge.

Today’s theme is ornaments. Naturally I looked at my own tree for inspiration and came up with this look. I started off with my ring finger. I used three coats of Angel Wings by Ciate. There is a little streaking with this colour, I must say. I then painted a Christmas tree using Matte Mint Green by bys and used a wee toothpick to create baubles. I experimented with baubles and string on my other nails, but they didn’t turn out the best…

Advent calendar challenge day 6: white

Today I finally got to use one of my Ciate minis from the advent calendar that my wonderful boyfriend bought me (and he even said it isn’t my Christmas present!) I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait for it! I did argue that it’s an advent calendar so I must have it now.. Hehe..

I started off with my blue ring finger (two coats of Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue) and used a dotting tool to create two circles at the tip so that my snowman could have a body and a face. I used a toothpick to create the buttons, face, arms and little red hat. He’s pretty cute don’t ya think?!

All my other nails are two coats of Rubi Shoes Going To The Chapel then over the top I used one coat of Ciate Angel Wings. It’s very, very pretty! Cue many snowman faces on all my other nails and voila! Day 6 is done! This challenge is going to get A LOT harder soon.. Aaannnnd I can’t look to the other participants for inspiration since NZ time is way ahead so I usually end up posting first. Sigh..

Cloud manicure

This is an easy manicure and it actually ended up looking pretty cool. I was stuck for a nail design all I knew is that I wanted to use the Himalayan Blue from Sally Hansen – it’s such a nice formula! I really like it and I’m getting into bluest this summer (it’s coming on summer in New Zealand). I used two coats of blue then used my cheap white Going To The Chapel by Rubi Shoes and a cotton bud/ q-tip to create the clouds.

Movember manicure

I decided to sneak one in for movember! There are a few guys at work who have been growing out their mo’s (doesn’t look so good most of the time) so I decided to try out the Cute Polish Movember nails. I started off with two coats of Jordana Soft White then went over it with two coats if Nicole by OPI in Dream Maker to give it a bit of shimmer. I then used BYS Black Satin and a dotting tool/ toothpick to create the mo. I suggest using the video on YouTube for reference.

V-Gap Manicure

I wanted some sparkle today so I started off with two coats of OPI Designer.. De Better. I really wanted to try a tape manicure but I couldn’t get the tape to not drag the existing polish off so I just freehanded a v shape at the cuticle using my new teal Étude House polish GR601. I am getting obsessed with this polish, I’ll have to limit myself though because I don’t know where to buy it! I then used a red striper to add more contrast to the V shape. I think it turned out pretty well for a free handed attempt! You can see on the thumb there is some dragging near the tip.. Oops, I fixed it up afterwards!

Graffiti heart nails

Today I found some Étude House polish at a random store while shopping. They only had three bottles and it was two for $8.00 so I just got two (great restraint) I can’t read the labels on the bottom but they have got codes: GR601 (the teal colour) and WH702 (the grey). I have to say the formula is great – I used two coats. I then used a red polish by Orly (Soul Mate) to create red hearts on the tips of my nails then created an outline with a black striper. Then I just used a dotting tool with a white polish to create the highlight.

I loosely followed this tutorial by Nailside for this look 🙂
