Simple Cobalt Chevron Nails

Hello my lovelies!

I have a pretty simple, very easy but rather stunning (well, in my opinion anyway) manicure to share with you today.

I’ve been considering getting the new-ish gel type polishes from revlon (ya know the ones that claim to stay on for ages and ages and you gotta get that special top coat?) and they had this really beautiful blue.. Gosh I am terrible at remembering names of polishes and collection off the bat! Well I was looking through my stash and realised that I have a blue very similar already in Endless Blue by Sinful Colors. So scratch that, semi lemming gone and I slapped this on my nails!

Never satisfied with just a single creme finish colour I used a Picture Polish lacquer in Metallic Mush to create a simple chevron tip. I think this design always makes your mani look clean and nails look a little bit longer. What do you think?

Red and black chevron nail art

Hey lovelies!

Yep! I know! I lagged again. Silly me. In any case, did you see that there’s a new Polish Addicts New Zealand blog? You can check it out (and my profile) here.

Today I have a pretty “bad-ass” manicure look for you, it’s semi inspired by the Gwen Stefani range by OPI but really just ended up looking like this after I played around with a striper for a bit and had some patience with glitter.. Hehe..

I do have the red from the Gwen collection (over and over a-Gwen) but for this manicure I actually used The Thrill of Brazil as the base colour for this mani. It is one of my fave reds at the moment, I’ve found it doesn’t stain my nail as much as other reds I’ve used have and goes on smoothly (opaque in two coats, oh yessss). I alternated the chevron base with the black striper and used glitter from an Ulta3 polish.. Very carefully fishing it out with a toothpick and placing it on the point of the chevron!

My head is in the (pink) clouds

Hello my lovelies!

I have a pretty pink manicure for you today – remember on Wednesdays we wear pink otherwise you can’t sit with us! If you get this reference then you’re my kind of person. If not I suggest you google it! Yes, I wear pink every Wednesday.

I’ve done the cloud manicure before in blue and white and a rasta colour type pallette so I decided to try it in my fave polish colour – pink! I’ve been going through my polish and swatching on sticks and pink is definitely hands down the winner. I have over 50 (yet to do an official count of my stash).

I started off with OPI Samoan Sand as a neutral base (three coats because I had some staining to hide on my natural nails) and then used Revlon Cupid for the baby pink layer and Hello Kitty Back to the Fuchsia for the hot pink tips. This design is extremely easy, it really is just three strokes and making sure the initial placement of the brush has a “blob” of polish so that the cloud is rounded. If you try this out for yourself be sure to use polishes that are quite opaque for layering and preferably fast drying too so that you’re not waiting around for hours for each layer to dry!

Easy Floral Nail Art

Hello darlings!

More nail art for you today, yaaaaaay! I have been loving the YouTube tutorials by Hello Maphie and tried out
this very, very easy one for roses/flowers. This would be the easiest way to get pretty flowers on your nails in my opinion. If you’re just starting out I would recommend this method since it’s pretty much fail proof.

I started off with two coats of Butter London Lady Muck and used Essie Lights and OPI Pink Friday for the flowers. One I used the cotton bud/ q-tip to create the marbled flowers I used a deep green (Revlon Emerald) to paint the leaves with a nail art brush (can use a toothpick though) and used a lighter green (OPI Gargantuan Green Grape) to create dimension. To finish it off I used OPI My Vampire is Buff to paint tiny dots in the middle of the flower.

Pretty, pretty, pretty!

Galaxy Nail Art

Hey, hey, hey!

Well I did it. I survived my first week back at work for the year! Only 51 more to go… Oyyyyy.

This is another revisited design but when it looks this great.. Who really cares? Not I! I was looking around YouTube the other day for nailspiration and came across a new galaxy nail art tutorial by CutePolish that I hadn’t seen and I decided to try out the colour palette she used in the video.

I pretty much followed the tutorial the whole way through, except I didn’t have the right kind of glitter topper so I used a white polish to create dots (stars) and a silver glitter. I started off with a plain black creme base colour and sponged on the white nebular base. I used OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook for the bright pop of tael and OPI Incognito in Sausalito to blend it together and dabbed a teeny tiny bit of OPI Eurso Euro on as well. I use the sponges that came with my China Glaze ombré set which I find better than the foam make up sponges I was using before because the fibres of the sponge don’t pull off the polish.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Belated Christmas Nail Art

Merry Christmas two days ago!

Sorry I’m a bit late with the Christmas nails but you know how the festive season is.. Crazy busy and you get distracted by all the lights and decorations hehehe! I hope you all had a great Christmas!

I did some nail art for my friend on Christmas Eve to get right into the festivities and they turned out great!

I used a plain black creme base colour on the pinky then layered NYX Dorothy and OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air over the top, for the Rudolph nail I used two coats of OPI Samoan Sand then OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know for the head and a dotting tool with China Glaze Just Be-Claws for the nose and a black striper for the antlers. The Santa suit is China Glaze Hey Sailor (one of my favourite red cremes) then black, white and gold stripers. Lastly the Santa hat is OPI Samoan Sand, CG Hey Sailor and a white creme polish.

I think they turned out so great! My fave is Rudolph but which one is your favourite?

Snowman Nails

Geez, Christmas is sooooo close! I am still on the hunt for one more present.. Ugh! Hopefully I can suss that out soon.

Anyway, I have a really pretty and cute manicure to share with you for Christmas today. I used two coats of Essie Smooth Sailing and layered Ciate Confetti over the top. I then used a dotting tool to make the snowman head, eyes and nose then a black striper to make the hat. It was a really easy manicure to do and I think it looks really great. I saw the design on Concrete and Nail Polish and thought it looked really great!

I have got the ciate advent calendar this year but I haven’t had a chance to use any of the polishes! This is the first one I’ve tried (apart from the base coat). Hopefully I’ll be able to try out more of the polishes soon!

Are you ready for Christmas?

Pumpkin and dots

Hello Lovelies!

So Halloween is fast approaching (really only two days away now) and I haven’t done any Halloween nail art whatsoever! Last year I had a few awesome designs but this year I things have just been so hectic around here.

Anyway, I had a plain manicure on, a peachy colour that I got from roseroseshop by Skinfood and it’s pretty much orange so I decided to add a pumpkin on my middle finger. I think it would look better with a stem (and maybe more like a pumpkin rather than an angry middle finger..) and I opted for cute polka dots because the pumpkin actually kind of scared me a little bit..

Simple Heart Nails

These must be the easiest and simplest nails anyone could do. A dotting tool makes these really easy but it can be done with a bobby pin or a toothpick or whatever else you have to use in place of a dotting tool!

I started off with two coats of Orly’s Everything’s Rosy and then used OPI My Vampire Is Buff and a dotting tool to create the little hearts in the middle of every nail. I think they look so simple and sweet! I think I wore these for at least a few days before taking it off – usually manicures don’t last more than a day as I get bored or get a new polish that I want to play with.

I hope you all had a great weekend! The weather was actually really lovely (woo no tights needed!) but today it is so windy! Almost got blown away today!

Pink Glitter Sequin Gradient Nails

So this manicure has two polishes that I recently acquired that I haven’t yet used.. Yeah I still have a lot of untried polishes to go through!

I started off with two coats of Picture Polish Beige on all but my ring finger. I wanted a hot pink accent nail and used That’s Hot! Pink by OPI which is one of my favourite pink polishes and one of the ones I used a lot when I first started out blogging. I wanted to try out one of my new Maybelline Color Show polishes from the Sequins collection and used Rose Bling on the tips.
