Multicoloured overlapping spotty manicure

Hello

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone! 2013 here we come! Are you going to bother making a resolution? My resolution last year was not to eat fried chicken. I did pretty well.. I succumbed to fried chicken in October when I got sick and cried for it. Overall though I don’t eat as much fried chicken as I used to so really my resolution worked out for me I guess. The year before my resolution was to be more social and I am still living that one! I seriously used to be the worst nanna.. I’d go out and be home by 11 most weekends and wouldn’t bother catching up with people. I’m thinking my resolution this year will be to help others but I haven’t decided how yet.

It’s tradition in Filipino culture to wear circles and eat round things like fruits on new year. My boyfriend is Filipino so I decided to paint my nails with some kind of round shapes on them. I’ve always loved the look of the overlapping spotty/dotty manicure so I decided this would be a good chance to give it a go. I love the way it turned out! If you read my blog or know me you’ll probably know that I love polka dots anyway!

I used Ciate Cookies and Cream as a base colour and layered on the following: Sally Hansen first kiss and Himalayan blue, OPI that’s hot! Pink and orly purple pleather.

Wishing you a safe and happy new year and may your 2013 be everything you want it to be! Don’t forget to kiss someone at midnight.. Mwah!

Pink with baby blue polka dots

Hello

Yay! I’m back home! It was great to get away for a few days – it really felt like a holiday. However much I love going away nothing beats coming home and sleeping in your own bed. Unless if course.. Melbourne, which us one place I could stay because we pretty much have another home there so it’s just like being at home anyway. I may have been quite cheeky and bought a polish while I was away… It was on sale for $2.99 AND I was away on holiday so it doesn’t count.. Hmm.. Plus, it’s only one little tiny bottle it can’t do much harm (yeah, yeah Kalliana just keep trying to convince yourself)

I got Sally Hansen First Blush which is a pretty peachy pink. I think it pairs really nicely with Sally Hansen Himalayan Blue. I’m so glad to have chip free nails again, it really was driving me crazy! I spent the whole trip home picking the polish off my nails as much as I could. I really like these Sally Hansen polishes the formula seems to apply really nicely!

Quick update: chipped polish

Hello

Just a reeeeeal quick update.. I’ve been in Rotorua since Thursday (today is Saturday) and my polish has chipped. I have no nail supplies with me so I would need to buy remover, base coat, top coat and colour if I wanted to fix this up…

Oh the other hand (not literally) I am having a great time in Rotorua!

OPI live and let die and the living daylights

Hello

I’m going on holiday for a few days do I need a mani that is going to last! Glitter generally treats me very well and I got a mini Skyfall set for Christmas from my best friend Fiona (surprisingly I did t get many polishes for Christmas.. Not many people wanted to fuel my habit!)

I started off with two coats of OPI Live and Let Die which is a dark grey with micro glitters, it’s so pretty! You could get away with 1 coat but I went with two for longevity. I then packed on the glitter with OPI The Living Daylights. I wish I didn’t go so heavy handed with it but its too late now. Hopefully these will last me the week but let’s see.. I even sealed off the tips to prevent chipping! No laziness here..

Advent calendar challenge day 23: Rudolph

Hello

Wow day 23! Only one more day left for the challenge.. I’ve loved doing this challenge but I will be glad when it is over!!

I decided to go with an accent nail in this case because I want red nails for Christmas so this way I only have to clean up one nail (read: very lazy). I used the following polishes for this mani:

OPI Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It
OPI A-Taupe The Space Needle
Ciate Cookies and Cream
Jessie’s Girl (unknown there is no colour name but its a sparkler jelly red)
BYS Black Satin
Rubi Shoes Going To The Chapel

Advent calendar challenge day 21: water marble

Hello

Disclaimer: this is my first water marble attempt! I’ve never done water marble before. It’s another one of those things that I put into the “too hard” basket. But it’s part of the challenge so I had to give it a chance. I think with more practise I will get better at it – it didn’t turn out too bad. My main annoyance with this method is the messiness and variations of what can go wrong. I’ve heard that you need to use room temperature water but the water I used was quite cold because it was a cold day today in Wellington. It took me a few attempts at getting the polish to spread out nicely. I used red, green and gold, but the gold didn’t show up as much as I would have liked.
