Short nails update

Sigh. Here they are. My short nails.. Just a quick rush job on the polish with a mini Chi Chi polish (it came in a gift pack set no name on the bottle) and OPI teenage dream glitter on top.

Now I’ll have to wait for my nails to grow out again. Oh well. I suppose life goes on. Tear.. I am being so melodramatic but I am entitled! Kidding.

Polka dot tips

First of all.. I am hiding my pinky because the nail broke 😦 I’m about to take this Mani off and cut ALL my nails down. Yup. Short neat nails. What is it?! A netball game?!

Anyway.. I wanted to do another mani with tips and you know how I love polka dots! I think this is pretty self explanatory so here is a list of colours used:

BYS black satin
Orly French tip pointe Blanche
OPI Tasmanian devil made me do it
BYS Matte mint green
BYS reign supreme
BYS neon blue striper

Heartbeat nails

I was inspired to do this nail design when I was watching Greys Anatomy. Possibly the only good thing about Mondays is Greys!

I started off painting my nails red with OPI Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It and painted my ring finger white with Sally Hansen White On. Still find it really thick I don’t like it very much but it’s the most opaque white I’ve got. Then I painted a heart using the red and a dotting tool on the white nail and with a VERY steady (read: slow) hand and a black striper I created the heart beat lines (I’m sure they have a proper medical term but I don’t know what it is)

I think it turned out really cool! It looks simple but I’m a fan!

Gift box inspired nails

Today I was out shopping and I saw this really, super cute gift box at Japan City on Cuba Street. The second I saw it I was like “oh my gosh! Nail art opportunity!”

I started off using my regular base coat then painting the base colours on my nails. I used sinful colors Bianca and China Glaze Shower Together. I painted my thumb and ring finger blue and the rest I went with pink. I then used a white striper on the pink nails and did white polka dots on my ring finger and painted a bow on my thumb. I found the bow quite time consuming but painted the bow in white so that the pink would pop more when I put it over top of the white.

I think it turned out really well! Excuse my laziness I haven’t cleaned up around my nails yet I was too excited to post this! Also, my photos have turned out a lot better because I’m using an iPhone instead of my iPad. Yup, jumped on the bandwagon there a little bit.

Check out my nails in front of the beehive building at parliament! Swag..

Plastic wrap nail art

I decided to finally try the plastic wrap (in NZ we call it Glad Wrap) nail art method. I have to say that it was very easy! I definitely recommend this for beginner because it is pretty much impossible to mess it up!

I started off with two coats of OPI Yodel Me On My Cell. I let this dry completely then bunch/ srunched up the plastic wrap and on a card I layered on the following polishes, separately:

OPI Designer.. De Better!
OPI Gold Shatter
MIKI unnamed light blue
China Glaze Flying Dragon

It turned out looking really great! The photos, as usual, didn’t turn out great but I think it looks particularly good with my hump-day glass of Pinot Noir. Mmmmmm..

Yellow and taupe polka dot

I am obsessed with polka dots right now. Over the last two weeks alone I have purchased black and white polka dot pants, a white and black polka dot skirt, red and black polka dot shirt, maroon and black polka dot peplum top.. So many things. I just love polka dots they’re so cute!

Anyhow. I started off painting my nails two coats of A Taupe The Space Needle by OPI except for one nail which I painted yellow. I used the same yellow to create a polka dot pattern in the brown nails and vice versa for the yellow nail. I really quite like the colour combination it’s subtle but still playful.

Jack Skellington Halloween nails

Halloween is just around the corner! I’ve seen a lot of nail art designs but this one from Cute Polish caught my eye today. I pretty much followed the YouTube tutorial to the letter, it was just soooooooo easy! It also turned out looking really great! The only thing I don’t like about mine is that my Jack looks a little too happy! Not enough evil. He is the diet coke of evil.. Just one calorie, not evil enough! Lol! I love Austin Powers.

Bridal inspired nails

One of my friends who recently got engaged requested for me to recreate a bridal look that she saw on Pinterest. I started off with two coats of Orly’s French Manicure polish Flirty Girl. I then did a glitter ombré style starting from the based of the nail going up. I started off with OPIs Teenage Dream and then went over it with Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Razzle Dazzler.

I think it turned out pretty nice. It looks a lot better in person. Fail for camera work here.

Nautical nails

Ahhhh long weekends. There isn’t much better than waking up on Sunday morning knowing that you still have a whole other day until you have to go back to work.

Anyway, I was inspired by this YouTube video by Cute Polish and a new sweater that I got yesterday. I started off with painting my nails two coats of Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It by OPI except for my ring finger, which I painted blue using China Glaze Shower Together. I then used a BYS blue striper over the single blue nail (it didn’t come out very well) and a white striper on the red nails. Then I used the striper to draw an anchor on the blue nail – which didn’t turn out great but the overall effect is there.

My first shatter

I know I may seem years behind but I’ve never really embraced the shatter polish rage. I got the gold OPI shatter as a part of my latest polish haul and I thought I should try it.

I started off with two coats of That’s Hot! Pink by OPI then went over with it with a coat of the gold shatter. I don’t really like the formula of the gold shatter it seems a bit.. Gluggy? Gloopy? Those aren’t even words!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, it’s been a very busy week. I have hardly been home to do my nails 😦
